Working toguether in the CLIL classroom

The rabbit is a consumer because it eats the grass. The Eagle is also a consumer because the Eagle eats the rabbit. The fungi are the decomposers).

Characteristics of cooperative learning:

1. Face-to-face Interaction
2. Individual Accountability
3. Interpersonal and Small Group Skills
4. Group processing
5. Positive Interdependence

What are the benefits of cooperative learning in CLIL?

1. Focuses on content and fluency (L2 competences/less correction)
2. Creates frequent opportunities to speak and listen to L2/limits TTT
3. Active participation>pupils build deeper understanding of concepts.
4. Positive Interdependence/Individual Accountability boost self-esteem.
5. Develops higher level cognitive strategies (planning, organizing, solving)
6. Process of "negotiation" helps pupils to build on prior knowledge.
7. Small groups>Anxiety is reduced & equal participation promoted.
8.Autonomy and sociability strengthened through peer-interaction.
9. Creates real communication needs, increasing variety of speech acts.
10. Reduces fear of making mistakes and increases motivation.

Sing and learn

This week I have taught the conditionals to my Intermediate students and I have chosen a song by Lisa Stansfield which helps to understand the second conditional.

Change by Lisa Stansfield

CHANGE – Lisa Stansfield
If I could change the way I live my life today
I wouldn't change a single thing
'Cos if I change my world into another place
I wouldn't see your smiling face

I'll always be there and I'll always care
Honey don't you worry, there's nothing to worry for
'Cos if I didn't love you, I wouldn't be here now
And if I didn't want you, I would have turned around by now
You've got to believe me babe, believe that I love you so
'Cos if I didn't love you, I would have turned around
And if I didn't want you, then I would want you out
This love, this love has filled me up
Oh my love I'll never give you up
'Cos I'll always want your love
If I could change the way I live my life today
I wouldn't change a single thing
'Cos if I change my world into another place
I wouldn't see your smiling face
Believing is the answer, the answer to all your fears
When I first said I loved you, I want in for the kill
Now when I say I love you, I mean I always will
This love, this love has filled me up
Ooh my love I'll never give you up
'Cos I'll always want your love
If I could change the way I live my life today
I wouldn't change a single thing
This love, this love has filled me up
My love I'll never give you up
'Cos I'll always want your love
If I could change the way I live my life today
I wouldn't change a single thing
'Cos if I change my world into another place
I wouldn't see your smiling face
If I could change the way I live my life today
I wouldn't change a single thing
'Cos if I change my world into another place
I wouldn't see your smiling face
You, only you can do my love
My sweet my very very
Furthermore, it is very entertaining to use the Karaoke versión on the computer of Digital Board, like this students read and sing and have fun.
