Games to enjoy English

My favourite games to practice English:

1. Pelmanism or memory
2. Hot seat
3. I am a word
4. Touch the box
5. Verb dominoes
6. Sentence Auction

I AM A WORD This is to practice word order in a sentence. Think of a sentence with 5 or 7 words, it all depends on the number of students in the class, the bigger the funnier.
Write every word of the sentence on a separate piece of paper. Chose as many students as words and ask them to leave the class. Outside distribute the papers among the students. They first have to organize themselves to find out the correct order of the words in the class. Once they know their correct order, they enter the class and stand on a line in a way that they do not stand in the correct order. For instance:

(I always go to the cinema on Sundays)

the    Sundays    I    on   to   go   always  cinema ( every word is a student).

When they enter the class, one by one has to say his or her word in front of the class and the sitting students listen and move them around in order to put them in the correct order to create the right sentence.

SENTENCE AUCTION

Ask the students to write about a topic, give them one. Collect the writings and make a list of wrong sentences coming from their writings.
Tell them they are going to bid for a correct sentence. Put them into teams, give them fake notes of 1, 10, 20, 50 and 100€.
Write on the board 10 sentences, wrong and right ones, mixed. And start the Auction.
The role of the teacher will be to offer every sentence and say the following words:
Sentence number 1, who offers 10€?
10, 30, 40, right
40€
One
Two
Three....sold to team B.

Then after selling the sentence the teacher says wether the sentence was correct or not. If it is correct you give back the money to the team, if it is not correct you keep the money. The team which ends up with the highest number of correct sentence wins.
